AN EVOLUTION IN THE URBAN ENVIRONMENT

Inspired by the industrial heritage of the neighbourhood, but with the contemporary details that define the area’s modern luxury residential homes, Bellwoods House represents an evolution in quality and design, truly belonging to the Bellwoods community, in every sense of the word.

The architecture is all about authenticity, contextual and reverential to the character and history of the neighbourhood. Yet, it also represents a step forward in sophistication, attention to detail, and high design rarely seen today.


At street level, the built form begins with expansive windows, arch details, rich masonry, and black metal framing. The red-hued brick façade rises to various heights across the building, breaking up the block and creating a sense of articulation where it meets the glazed façade above. Setbacks create space for expansive private balconies and terraces with breathtaking views.

The building is expertly integrated with a beautifully restored 3-storey heritage property on the northwest corner of the site. This historic style is a counterpoint to the modern townhomes wrapping around the base of the building, detailed with reeded wood doors and rows of white hydrangeas, 
animating the laneway and celebrating the residential character of Strachan Avenue.

HERITAGE, RESTORED

A remarkable example of Second-Empire architecture, with signature mansard roofs and dormer windows, the heritage building at the corner of Adelaide & Strachan dates back to 1878 and was designed by notable Toronto architect, David Brash Dick, best known for his architectural contributions to the University of Toronto.

For nearly 80 years the building housed mainly grocers, welcoming a greater variety of businesses from the late 1950s to the early 1980s. In 1997, the site was rezoned as a restaurant. And now, perfectly 
restored and integrated into Bellwoods House, it will begin a new chapter, bringing life and a greater sense of community to the neighbourhood.

From a dog spa and car share, to a bike repair and wash station, to intelligent building technology like a smart parcel room and high-speed Bell Fibe wifi throughout the building’s common areas, the amenities at Bellwoods House answer your every need and desire.

The boutique chic design language continues in the ground floor library lounge and coworking space, 
a place that seems devised to promote chance encounters and unleash your creativity. The linear space is strategically allocated into different zones, with everything from a communal self-service bar and island worktop where you can mix and mingle with other innovators and entrepreneurs, to a business centre 
with hot desks, private offices, and banquettes. There’s even a podcast studio with state-of-the-art A/V recording capabilities, giving you the tools you need to share your unique point of view.
